How is Bow hunting safer then gun hunting?
I am doing a report about how hunting with a bow is safer then hunting with a gun. Can anyone give me some reasons why this may be true. It will will help me a lot. THANK YOU!!!
I kind of hate to jump in when there is a debate going on, but the truth is bow hunting is inherently more safer than gun hunting for these reasons- Almost no one has ever been shot by an arrow on accident. The very nature of bow hunting that requires close shots makes positive I.D. of a target a given. And when shot even on level ground and the target is missed the arrow will not travel over 70-80 yards unless the bow is elevated. And when the arrow contacts a limb, or sapling it does not continue for hundreds of yards. And that old saying of I did not think it was loaded or I thought the safety was on does not apply to the Bow And Arrow. I own several rifles, shotguns, pistols and 6 Bow And Arrows. I hunt with both. But the very reason I took up bow hunting several years ago was to get away from the danger involved with gun hunting on public land. The more hunters in an area the more danger involved in gun hunting. A few years ago on opening day of deer season there were so many gun shots going off in all directions around me I found a ditch and laid in it for 2 hours until the shooing died down. I don’t think I would have had to to that if it had been the opening day of bow season.I now do all my gun hunting on private land and the very late season when the crowds have died out.
